British Columbia borders the Yukon, Alberta, Northwest Territory of Canada and Washington State, Idaho, Montana and Alaska of the USA. It includes Vancouver Island and Queen Charlotte Islands. It is the westernmost province in Canada. It is bounded in the east by the watershed of the Rocky mountains. The province is mountainous.

There are several mountain ranges in British Columbia. St. Elias mountains, the Coast mountains and the Canadian Rocky mtns.

The coast mountains are the greatest mountain mass in Canada. The average elevation of these mountains are 5000 - 6000 ft high. The highest peak is Mt. Waddington at 13,260 ft high. This is taller than any mountain peak in the Canadian Rocky mountains. the St. Elias mountains in BC are the largest group of high peaks in North America. Mt. Fairweather is 15,300 ft. Its located on the Alaskan boundary.
