In British Columbia, Whitewater rapids are at its peak in June and early July. This is considered the best time to ride the rapids.
Lytton BC, off Highway 1 just north of Hope, is the whitewater rafting capital of Canada. Here rapids are named Devil's Gorge and Witch's Cauldron which can give you some idea of what the rapids are like. The Fraser and Thompson Rivers meet near Lytton creating a surge that offers some of the best whitewater rafting you will ever experience. Highway 1 follows the Fraser River and is near Lytton. At Lytton, you will find guided whitewater rafting tours available on the Fraser or Thompson Rivers. Another place to find rafting trips on the Fraser River is Williams Lake. You can also raft the Chilcotin or Chilko Rivers from Williams Lake.
In the Kootenay Rockies you can kayak the whitewater rapids at Kootenay, Elk, Kicking Horse, Bull and White Rivers. You will find guided whitewater rafting tours available on these rivers.
If you are a beginner at whitewater rafting or just prefer a less exhilarating ride, milder rapids are found on Toby Creek or the Slocan and St. Mary Rivers.
In Northern BC, guided whitewater rafting tours are available at Gataga-Kechka River.
At Clinton near Cache Creek, you can stay at a guest ranch and go whitewater rafting.
